This luxurious property can accommodate up to eight, whether an extended family or up to four couples. There’s four bedrooms split over three separate buildings, along with a wonderful swimming pool and plenty of room to spread out.

Pets are welcome to join you – just double check the rules for dogs before booking. It’s also just a one-minute walk from the beach, which is dog-friendly at the northern end.

Sleeping up to six, this stylish house is located in Coledale, one of the string of coastal suburbs to the north of Wollongong, not far from the Seacliff Bridge. The holiday home contains three bedrooms, a chic hotel-style bathroom and a deck at the front, complete with ocean views.

Up to two dogs are welcome to join you and haven’t been forgotten. There’s a doggie door leading directly to the enclosed grassy backyard. Across the road is also the 24-hour off-leash Sharkies Beach.

Coastal Nest, Windang

Heading further south, the Wollongong suburb of Windang is nestled in between the sea and Lake Illawarra, and is home to the luxury holiday home Coastal Nest.

With four bedrooms and three bathrooms, the property can accommodate up to five adults and three children, plus a baby in the supplied cot. Outside is a beautiful in-ground swimming pool, adjacent to a large deck, while inside is a fireplace plus ducted air conditioning.

Up to two dogs of any size are permitted to stay with you. However, they are only permitted outside, including on the semi-enclosed deck. Both front and back yards are fully enclosed and safe for pets and children.

Werri Shack, Gerringong

Gerringong is right on two hours drive south of Sydney, so close enough for an easy weekend away, but a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city, perfect for a weekend of sunshine and sandy beaches.

The Werri Shack is a funky cottage located just a few blocks back from Werri Beach. With three bedrooms, it sleeps up to eight guests, perfect for large families. There’s plenty of outdoor decks for relaxed meals, plus a downstairs games room.

Pets are welcome to join you, just advise at the time of booking. Make sure you bring your own pet bed and bowls, with no pets allowed on the furniture or in the bedrooms. The backyard is fully enclosed and it’s a short walk to the off-leash section of Werri Beach.

For a fun adventure with your dog, consider walking part of the Kiama Coastal Walk, which starts at the northern end of Werri Beach. Leashed dogs are allowed on the path.

This two-story red cedar cabin is situated on a private elevated position, surrounded by bushland. Inside are three bedrooms, able to accommodate up to eight guests. Due to the remote location (note that part of the access road is unsealed), there is no wi-fi and only full Telstra reception is available – perfect for switching off. Instead, why don’t you relax around the fire pit in the evenings?

Pets are welcome to join you (up to two up to 25kg), although the owner requests that they are kept off all furniture, both inside and outside. Remember to bring their own bed!

TYGLAS Studio, Katoomba

The recently renovated studio located at the rear of a larger house consists of just three rooms, including a bedroom with a king bed and a sofa bed. A private courtyard has been recently added, complete with a doggie house, plus food and water bowls.
