Luxury can mean many different things in today’s modern world, even when it comes to hotels. At Langham Hotels, whose heritage stretches back over 150 years to one of the earliest grand hotels in London, luxury means a mix of refined old-world elegance and charming five-star service.
But what is a greater luxury than being able to share this experience with your beloved dog or cat? Happily, The Langham, Sydney in the city’s historic Millers Point is a pet-friendly property, warmly welcoming four-legged guests. Pet Policy of The Langham, Sydney
To stay with your pet at The Langham, Sydney, book a Pampered Pets Staycation package. Both dogs and cats are welcome to join you. Generally only small to medium size dogs are accepted, but call up to discuss if you have a larger dog. Up to two pets are permitted per room, thanks to their generous sizes.
As well as luxury accommodation in the room or suite of your choosing, the Pampered Pets Staycation package includes a Langham-branded bed and pet bowls for use during your stay, daily breakfast in bed, valet parking, a pet welcome amenity and a Pawesome Pet gift bag.

Schnitzel was very excited by the welcome treats left in our room for his arrival, including a petite pupcake topped with yoghurt and fresh raspberries and a soft The Langham biscuit. Included in our gift bag were a Langham-branded collar and leash in their signature pink, equally pink tennis balls, and a chic Bug & Bun dog fragrance.

Note that dogs are required to be kept on a leash at all times in public areas of the hotel and it is recommended that cats are brought in and out in a cat carrier. Pets are not permitted to be left alone in rooms, plus are not allowed in certain areas of the hotel, including in The James restaurant, Observatory Bar and The Day Spa by Chuan.
Rooms at The Langham, Sydney
It’s possible to book a range of rooms at The Langham, Sydney as part of the Pampered Pets Staycation package, from Deluxe City View rooms to One-Bedroom Suites. (Click on the Book Now link on the package page to be displayed all the available options, including some with terraces.)
We stayed the night in a Junior Harbour View Suite. This spacious room had plenty of extra room for pets and their beds, including a sitting area with beautiful views overlooking Barangaroo and Sydney Harbour. Discreet touches included openable sash windows, an extra door to shut off the entry hallway and plenty of books and magazines to peruse.

The suite’s marble bathroom features a full bath, twin sinks and Diptyque toiletries. (Don’t also miss the Dyson hairdryer boxed in the wardrobe.) To ensure the best night’s sleep, there’s an extensive pillow menu, plus it’s also possible to order aroma diffusers and yoga mats to your room.

The hotel is not overly large, with just 96 rooms spread across three levels. Luxurious touches abound, from the signature fragrance in the hallways, through to the spectacular flower arrangements in the lobby.
Facilities at The Langham, Sydney
While pets are not permitted in The James restaurant and Observatory Bar at The Langham, due to neither having an outdoor area, instead stay relaxing in your room and order from the in-room dining menu, available an impressive 24 hours a day.
As well as an extensive range of meals, snacks and drinks for humans, there’s also a section of the menu devoted to pets. Choose from the “Rawesome” Angus beef tartare, “Bow Wow” roast chicken with egg and oats or “Lassie’s Favourite”, Angus beef with vegetables and oats. I’m sure Schnitzel would have loved one, but after earlier devouring so many treats, he was only allowed an extra small dinner.
Come morning time, rather than head to the buffet, order from the in-room breakfast menu as part of your staycation package. I choose the Revitalise Langham Breakfast which delivers a decadent spread. Along with a freshly poached egg and smashed avocado on sourdough toast, it also included Sonoma raw natural muesli, a delicious mixed berry coconut smoothie and a bowl of freshly cut fruit (that I may have shared with Schnitzel!)

While pets are not allowed at The Day Spa by Chuan, plus the pretty indoor heated pool with its ceiling of stars adjacent, enjoy a treatment package as part of your stay by adding on pet sitting. Available in three-hour blocks, make sure you book well in advance before your arrival. It’s also possible to add on a Pampered Pets birthday party for the ultimate pet birthday celebration.

Highlights of a Stay with Your Pet
- Old-world elegance and luxurious touches

Top 3 Things to Do During Your Stay
While it’s tempting to stay ensconced within your room at The Langham, Sydney for the duration of your stay with your pup, just stepping out to the street for bathroom breaks, there’s also some excellent dog-friendly attractions just metres from the hotel. I recommend considering these options to make the most of your stay…
#1 Enjoy a Picnic at Observatory Hill Park
Take the historic Agar Steps behind the tennis court (available for bookings) across from The Langham for a short cut up to Observatory Hill Park. Wrapped around the historic observatory after which the hotel bar is named, Observatory Hill Park arguably has the best views of any off-leash dog park in Sydney.
Dogs are allowed off-leash in the majority of the park, including the lawn on its northern side with its views of the harbour and Sydney Harbour Bridge. Let your dog enjoy a run around off-leash while you enjoy the panoramic views.
The park is a popular spot for picnics, particularly in the late afternoon towards sunset. Consider packing your own to enjoy with your pup. Just take care that your dog doesn’t invade any other picnics or disturb the many wedding photo shoots that take place here!

#2 Stroll or Swim at Barangaroo Reserve
Observatory Hill Park isn’t the only dog-friendly park close by. One of the gems of the Barangaroo development is the curving headland of Barangaroo Reserve. Take the steps at High Street down to Hickson Road then follow the road to the start of reserve, or else walk along Kent Street then turn left for the upper entrance.

While dogs need to stay on-leash at Barangaroo Reserve, whether following the harbour side path, clambering over the waterfront rocks or enjoying the expanses of green lawn, there is one special off-leash secret.
Dogs are allowed to join in the fun and have a dip in the harbour at Marrinawi Cove, the swimming enclosure located at the northern end of the reserve. Dogs are allowed off-leash in the water – just leash them when they’re back on land. But make sure you bring a towel to dry them off before returning to your hotel room!

#3 Stay for a Special Event
The Langham is also superbly located for a stay in combination with the many special events that take place in this part of the city. For instance, it’s the ideal place to stay with your dog while enjoying a night out in the city for Vivid Sydney.
The yearly Vivid Light Walk always includes some light installations in Barangaroo Reserve and along the foreshore of the Barangaroo development, visible from harbour view rooms at The Langham. This section of the light walk is also one of the most dog-friendly stretches, away from the crowds at Circular Quay and Darling Harbour.

Check into the Langham then head out for a stroll with your pup to take in the light sculptures. Make sure you rug up, including your pup, if the weather is cold. Evenings earlier in the week are better for avoiding the crowds, making for a more enjoyable experience with your dog.
In recent years over the summer months, Mov’in Bed outdoor cinema has set up at Barangaroo below The Langham. Best of all, this outdoor cinema experience is dog-friendly every night of the season, which ran from November to April during 2025-26.

Make a booking for a My Dog & Me class bed, with a dog bed and water bowl provided just for your pup beside your comfy inflated bed. After the movie is over, it’s just a short walk up to your room at The Langham.
More Dog-Friendly Parks near The Langham, Sydney
In addition to Observatory Hill Park and Barangaroo Reserve, another dog walking option close to The Langham is Hickson Park at Barangaroo, a small grassy park behind Crown Sydney.
An off-leash trial is currently running until June 2026, with dogs allowed off-leash between 6am and 10am, then 4pm and 7:30pm. Check the sign for the latest details – hopefully the off-leash times continue. During the rest of the day dogs need to stay on-leash.
