An increasing number of pet-friendly caravan parks in Australia now have pet-friendly cabins. But best of all, some of these cabins have fenced areas, whether a fenced verandah for dining and relaxing, or a fenced grass area for toilet breaks, or both. I’ve put together a list of some of dog-friendly fenced cabins I’ve come across…

Tips for Staying in a Fenced Cabin

Even though a cabin may be fenced, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the fence is escape-proof for your dog. For starters, some fences, particularly railings on a verandah, may stop a child or larger dog from escaping, but not smaller dogs. Then there’s the issue of agile dogs that can jump over fences.

If a secure fence is important to you, double check in advance before booking, then again when you arrive at the pet-friendly cabin. Sometimes a fence is more of a suggestion than a secure enclosure.

Take your pick from these multiple dog-friendly cabins around NSW with fenced yards and verandahs.

BIG4 Colonial Holiday Park – Harrington

The BIG4 Colonial Holiday Park – Harrington is located on a quiet stretch of beach on the Mid North Coast, in between Forster and Port Macquarie. Welcoming pets year-round, pets are allowed to stay in all their cabins with their own bedding. Each of the cabins have an enclosed and gated verandah with picnic table.

Ingenia Holidays Nambucca Heads

Located in Nambucca Heads, a relaxed coastal town south of Coffs Harbour, Ingenia Holidays Nambucca Heads is conveniently located right next to the break wall, perfect for dog walks. Its pet-friendly standard studio cabins each have a fenced grassed courtyard.

Ingenia Holidays Tomakin

In between Batemans Bay and Moruya, Ingenia Holidays Tomakin on the banks of the Tomaga River welcomes pets at the park year round. While the Riverfront Cabins are newer, the regular Two Bedroom Cabins have the advantage for pet owners of a fully-fenced balcony, with bars close enough to stop even small dogs escaping.

NRMA Dubbo Holiday Park

NRMA Dubbo Holiday Park is a great dog-friendly park to stay at when visiting Dubbo, with its own onsite off-leash dog park and even some fenced sites for campers. Additionally, it also has multiple pet-friendly cabins, each with a fenced yard and kennel.

NRMA Tathra Beachfront Holiday Park

The NRMA Tathra Beachfront Holiday Park is a great choice for a holiday with your dog on the NSW South Coast, thanks to its location next to the off-leash dog beach. Pets are welcome year-round in its pet-friendly villas and cottages. The former have an enclosed verandah, while the latter have a fenced yard.

Sails Holiday Park, Belmont

Sails Holiday Park is located close to the shores of Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle. Welcoming dogs year round, as well as allowing dogs on sites it has at least one dog-friendly cabin, that has its own fenced yard and picnic table.

Dog-Friendly Fenced Cabins in Northern Territory

I’m aware of a single caravan park in the Northern Territory that has fenced cabins.

Litchfield Tourist Park, Rum Jungle

Litchfield Tourist Park is a great option to stay at if you’re visiting Litchfield National Park, thanks to their pet checking service. They also have Dog House, a pet-friendly bungalow, with pets allowed inside and an enclosed verandah with gate.

Dog-Friendly Fenced Cabins in Queensland

Queensland is home to a handful of fenced pet-friendly cabins to choose from, at least in the south of the state.

Coral Coast Tourist Park, Townsville

The Coral Coast Tourist Park in Townsville welcomes pets to stay year-round on their sites and a variety of pet-friendly villas and cabins. In particular, their pet-friendly cabins have an enclosed concrete patio along the side, with an outdoor table and chairs.

Ingenia Holidays Kinka Beach

A great pet-friendly caravan park near Yeppoon, Ingenia Holidays Kinka Beach has a wide range of pet-friendly cabins to select from, in addition to pet-friendly sites. While most of the cabins have verandahs that aren’t fully fenced, the Four-Bedroom Holiday House’s huge verandah is fully enclosed. Just be careful with small dogs who may still be able to slip through the bars.

Ingenia Holidays Noosa North

Make a booking for the Pet-Friendly Two-Bedroom Superior Cabin at Ingenia Holidays Noosa North. This cabin can sleep up to five, including a sofa bed in the lounge. Best of all, there’s a fenced yard for pets, plus a barbecue on the deck. Just note that there are blackout dates for pets – ring up to confirm when pets are allowed.

Killarney View Cabins & Caravan Park

Killarney View Cabins & Caravan Park is a peaceful and quiet holiday park in southern Queensland, close to the mountains and waterfalls of the Main Range. As well as welcoming dogs on their sites and a homemade dog wash, dogs are also allowed in their new dog-friendly cabin, which has its own fenced yard.

There’s a large number of caravan parks with fenced cabins to choose from in when travelling in South Australia with a dog.

Echo Holiday Park – Renmark

The Echo Holiday Park – Renmark is a popular caravan park located a little way east of Renmark, on the banks of the Murray River. With pets welcome year-round on all sites, they also have two fully self-contained pet-friendly cabins, each with their own fenced yard. It’s best to make a booking well in advance!

Echo Holiday Park – Waikerie

A little further down the Murray at Waikerie, Echo Holiday Park – Waikerie also has one pet-friendly cabin, that has its own small fenced outdoor area. The one-bedroom cabin can accommodate up to four guests and two pets. Dogs can also stay on all campsites.

Lake Albert Caravan Park, Meningie

Located on Lake Albert in the Coorong, the Lake Albert Caravan Park welcomes pets year round in its two Egret budget cabins. There’s a fenced yard around both cabins, plus of course pets are allowed inside. Note though that neither cabin has an ensuite, plus you’ll need to bring your own linen (and dog bed).

Penola Coonawarra Caravan Park

The Penola Coonawarra Caravan Park allows pets on its powered, unpowered and ensuite sites, plus has some great dog-friendly cabins. Each of the cabins can accommodate up to two adults and two dogs, and come with their own fenced and gated verandah, plus a large attached fenced yard.

Pine Country Caravan Park, Mt Gambier

Pine Country Caravan Park in Mt Gambier is a very popular park with dog owners, thanks to its large off-leas dog park and fenced site for campers. Additionally, it’s also home to two dog-friendly cabins with fenced yards.

Port Broughton Tourist Park

The waterfront Port Broughton Tourist Park is located on the west coast of the northern end of the Yorke Peninsula, just two hours from Adelaide. In addition to some pet-friendly budget cabins, its also home to a two-bedroom self-contained pet-friendly cabin which has its own fenced area, undercover deck and kennel.

There’s only a single dog-friendly caravan park in Tasmania with fenced dog-friendly cabins.

Swansea Holiday Park

Located on the east coast of Tasmania, not far from the beautiful (but off-limits for dogs) Freycinet National Park, Swansea Holiday Park warmly welcomes pets. As well as allowing pets on all sites and having its own pet spa and washing machine and dryer for dog blankets, there are also pet-friendly cabins. The Superior One Bedroom Cabin has its own fenced yard.

There’s quite a long list of pet-friendly caravan parks in Victoria with fenced cabins that you can book for a stay with your dog.

Anglesea Family Caravan Park

At the Anglesea Family Caravan Park, near the start of the Great Ocean Road, there are two dog-friendly cabins with a fenced yard and kennel along the side. Note that the caravan park is only dog-friendly during off-peak periods, with only dogs under 10kg permitted.

Best Friend Retreat, Tarra Valley

Best Friend Retreat is a holiday resort developed just for dog owners in mind. In addition to six fenced off-leash dog exercise areas, the resort also has a variety of fenced sites and pet-friendly cabins. Both the Deluxe and Mini Deluxe Cabins have a securely fenced grass area, while the Budget Cabins also have a securely fenced area.

BIG4 Ballarat Windmill Holiday Park

The BIG4 Ballarat Windmill Caravan Park is one of the most dog-friendly caravan parks in Victoria, with its own pet-friendly precinct, the “BIG PAWS Pet Zone”. With a pet-friendly billabong area and fenced sites, it also has a multiple pet-friendly cabins, including Dogwood, each with their own fenced yard.

BIG4 Bendigo Marong Holiday Park

There’s plenty of facilities for dogs at the BIG4 Bendigo Marong Holiday Park. As well as fenced off-leash dog park and K9000 dog wash, there’s also year-round dog-friendly sites and cabins. Each of the Dog-Friendly Deluxe and Standard Cabins have a fenced and gated deck.

BIG4 Ingenia Holidays Inverloch

BIG4 Ingenia Holidays Inverloch welcomes pets year-round, including in a wide range of cabins. The most luxurious option is the Eco Deluxe Cabin, a net-zero cabin that can sleep seven, with two queen beds plus bunks and two bathrooms. Best of all for pet owners, it has its own large grass outside area, that is fully fenced, with outdoor furniture.

BIG4 Ingenia Holidays Torquay

Conveniently located at the start of the Great Ocean Road and welcoming pets year round, the BIG4 Ingenia Holidays Torquay also has fenced cabins. Both the Puppy Penthouse and the Pet-Friendly Two-Bedroom Villas each have their own fenced yard.

BIG4 Tasman Holiday Parks – Bendigo

The BIG4 Tasman Holiday Parks – Bendigo is located on the northern side of Bendigo and welcomes dogs outside peak periods – call up to double check the dates. In addition to sites, pet dogs are also allowed in two cabins: the two-bedroom Pooch Pad and the three-bedroom Dog House. Both have an enclosed yard.

Daylesford Holiday Park

A convenient option to stay at to explore the charms of Daylesford, the Daylesford Holiday Park has three pet-friendly cabins, two Bark Royal studio cabins (that can sleep two) and a larger Bark Royal family cabin (that can sleep four). Each of the cabins has an external dog run and play area.

Lilydale Pine Hill Caravan Park

Lilydale Pine Hill Caravan Park is located on the northeastern fringes of Melbourne, great for exploring the Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges with your dog. The park has pet-friendly two-bedroom cabins, each with a lockable gate on the deck.

There’s a single dog-friendly caravan park in WA to select from with fenced dog-friendly cabins.

Coral Coast Tourist Park, Carnarvon

The regional hub of Carnarvon along WA’s Coral Coast is home to multiple pet-friendly caravan parks. At the Coral Coast Tourist Park, the pet-friendly Park Home that sleeps two adults has its own private fenced courtyard for your pet.
