The NSW North Coast is home to some fabulous pet-friendly cabins, the perfect place to stay with all your family for a relaxed time by the beach. Whether you’re looking for a dog-friendly cabin on the Mid North Coast or the Far North Coast, take your pick from these options…

#1 BIG4 Bays Holiday Park, Anna Bay
While there’s not many pet-friendly cabins to choose from in the Port Stephens region, a great pet-friendly caravan park in the region with multiple pet-friendly cabins is the BIG4 Bays Holiday Park at Anna Bay.
In addition to powered and unpowered sites, pet dogs are also allowed in selected cabins and caravans. Choose between two-bedroom, studio and Betty the Budget cabins. Pets are also allowed in Daisy the Cute Caravan. Check out the latest pet-friendly options on their site.
Note that an extra cleaning fee of $50 applies per pet per stay, plus advance approval is required. Pets are allowed in the pet-friendly cabins during most of the year, except between 26th December and 9th January. (There are additional blackout dates for sites.)
The caravan park is just a short drive from the off-leash dog area at Birubi Beach. Alternatively head to Bagnalls Beach in Corlette, on the calm waters of Port Stephens. There’s a handy free dog wash on site.

#2 Reflections Jimmy Beach, Hawks Nest
On the northern side of Port Stephens is the quiet seaside town of Hawks Nest, home to the highly-praised Reflections Jimmys Beach. Dogs are welcome to join you in the idyllic surrounds of Jimmys Beach Holiday & Caravan Park, including in selected accommodation.
Take your pick between the Premium Tiny Homes and selected Deluxe Cabins. The former has one bedroom and can accomodate up to two, while the latter have two bedrooms and can accommodate up to four. The Tiny Homes also feature a fenced verandah with outdoor furniture, perfect for relaxing afternoons with your pup.
Like many Reflections caravan parks, there’s a hydro-bath onsite for dogs. Just check the signage at the local beaches for where and when dogs are permitted.
#3 Lani’s Holiday Island, Forster
The twin towns of Forster-Tuncurry are a delightful destination to visit with your dog. There’s plenty of dog-friendly beaches and cafes, plus multiple pet-friendly cabins to stay in with your pup by your side.
One caravan park offering pet-friendly cabins is Lani’s Holiday Island, on the edge of the lake at Forster. Regularly recommended among dog owners, pets are allowed in selected cabins. Choose between the Pet-Friendly Lodges, Villas and Cabanas, each sleeping up to four or five human guests. Double check whether linen is provided.
Up to two pets are permitted per booking, with no seasonal restrictions – just get in early if you’d like a summer holiday away with your pup!
#4 Discovery Parks – Forster, Darawank
Another fabulous dog-friendly caravan park in Forster-Tuncurry is Discovery Parks – Forster, which is situated just north of town on the river in Darawank. Dogs are welcome to stay at the park year round, both on camping sites as well as in selected cabins.
The cabins where dogs are allowed are clearly listed on their website – just look for the “Dogs Okay” symbol. Even the Deluxe Riverfront cabins where we stayed permit pets! Note that an additional fee does apply, and usually only one dog is permitted per booking, although double check with management if you have two pups.


The park also has plenty of additional facilities for dogs (plus families will also love the recently opened resort-style pool and splash park). There’s a shady fenced dog park and a self-service dog wash and blow dry. Check whether the Discovery Barks Walk still takes place on Sunday mornings.

#5 Diamond Waters Caravan Park
Heading further north, Diamond Waters Caravan Park is located 40 minutes south of Port Macquarie, on the Camden Haven River near Laurieton. It’s a gorgeous spot surrounded by bushland and welcomes dogs all year round, although no cats for the protection of the local wildlife.
There’s one pet-friendly self-contained cabin available at the park. Up to two dogs are permitted, with a small additional cleaning surcharge of $10 per pet over weekends or during holiday periods. See their website for their full pet rules. There’s also an off-leash dog park onsite!
#6 Reflections Holiday Parks Moonee Beach
The Coffs Harbour region is home to plenty of dog-friendly attractions, plus places to stay with your pup. One of the most popular caravan parks with dog owners is Reflections Holiday Parks Moonee Beach. Located a short drive north of Coffs Harbour, dogs are allowed year round at the park, on sites and in selected cabins.

Dog-friendly cabin options at the park include premium, superior and budget cabins, accommodating up to four or five people. Their new Tiny Houses are also dog-friendly, perfect for couples and a pup. The dog-friendly options are clearly marked online.

The park is located next to the dog-friendly albeit on-leash Moonee Beach, with a handy deluxe dog wash back at the park. Even the nearby pub and shopping centre are dog-friendly!

#7 Woolgoolga Lakeside Holiday Park
Just up the road from Coffs Harbour and Moonee Beach is Woolgoolga, home to the Woolgoolga Lakeside Holiday Park. Pets are welcome to stay with you during most of the year, outside of the peak periods between 20th December and 14th January, plus the Easter long weekend.
As well as pet-friendly sites, pets are welcome to stay in three types of cabins. Selected Water View Villas have been designated as pet-friendly, plus the older-style Banksia and Lake View Cabins. Each of these cabins can accomodate five humans.
Enjoy an on-leash stroll with your pup along the adjacent beach, where the remains of the Buster Shipwreck can sometimes be spotted. Dogs are also allowed off-leash at the Woolgoolga Back Beach outside of the Little Tern breeding season. There’s a handy dog wash back at the park.

#8 Solitary Islands Resort, Wooli
For more fabulous pet-friendly cabins in Northern NSW make a booking with the Solitary Islands Resort, located in the small beach enclave of Wooli, north of Coffs Harbour. The resort is popular with families thanks to its extensive water park, but it’s also a great pet-friendly option.
Pets are welcome in a wide range of the cabins onsite, from Studio Cabins that sleep two and various Two-Bedroom Cabins that sleep four, up to their large Riverview Villas, ideal for extended families or groups.
Up to one dog is permitted per cabin, with only small to medium dogs up to 23kg permitted, plus certain breeds excluded. It’s a must to make a booking over the phone when staying with a dog and receive pre-approval. There are no exclusion dates for pets in dog-friendly cabins, although there are restrictions for dogs on sites during peak periods.
#9 BIG Saltwater Yamba
The town of Yamba in the Northern Rivers region offers the best of both worlds: a chilled out beach destinations, but with all the necessities for a holiday, including an excellent pet-friendly caravan park just outside town. BIG4 Saltwater Yamba welcomes pets year round, on both powered and unpowered campsites and in an increasing number of cabins.
If staying with your pet, choose between all three Banksia cabins, four of the deluxe Figtree Cabins and three of the smaller Casuarina Studio Cabins. Both the Banksia and Casuarina cabins feature a fully enclosed deck, perfect for relaxed outdoor meals without needing to leash your dog. There’s also a fully fenced off-leash dog park onsite and a handy K9000 dog wash.
Note that there’s a limit of one dog per cabin, with most breeds and sizes accepted. A small additional charge of $12 per night applies for pets staying in cabins.
#10 Reflections Holiday Parks Lennox Head
Another one of the excellent pet-friendly Reflections Holiday Parks along the NSW North Coast is Reflections Lennox Head, just a 20 minute drive south of Byron Bay, but a quieter alternative.
Dogs are permitted on all sites plus in certain cabins, including selected Deluxe and Economy cabins, that can accomodate up to four or six guests. Like at Reflections Jimmys Beach and Moonee Beach dogs are permitted year round.
There’s plenty of fun things to do with your dog at Lennox Head. The park has an excellent fenced dog park onsite, even with agility equipment. Plus the nearby Seven Mile Beach is off-leash, to the north of the surf club.

If staying with a pet, make a direct booking on the website or by phoning the reception. Up to two pets are permitted per booking.
#11 Ingenia Holidays Byron Bay, Suffolk Park
If you’d prefer to stay right in Byron Bay with your dog, one of the best pet-friendly options is the large Ingenia Holidays Byron Bay. The caravan park is located a few kilometers south of Byron Bay proper in beachside Suffolk Park.
In addition to camp sites, pets are also allowed in selected cabins. Choose between the studio cabins that can accommodate two guests, or the larger two-bedroom villas that can accomodate up to four. Pet-friendly options are clearly listed on their website, although blackout dates may apply – phone up to double check the dates.
One of the best perks about staying at Ingenia Holidays Byron Bay with your dog is that it’s just a short walk to the off-leash Tallow Beach, located behind the park. The park is also home to to a fenced off-leash exercise area, plus there’s a new dog wash in the visitors parking area.

#12 Reflections Holiday Parks Ferry Reserve
Reflections Ferry Reserve – Holiday Park is located just outside of Brunswick Heads in Northern NSW, right on the banks of the Brunswick River. Pets are welcome to stay with you in the park, including in many of the park’s cabins and tiny houses.

Choose between the deluxe and premium cabins, that can sleep between two to four. Or make a booking for one of the Tiny Houses. They’re perfect for a couple with a pup, and even include an enclosed verandah. Up to two pets are allowed per booking.
The caravan park is situated just a short drive away from the excellent off-leash beach in Brunswick Heads. There’s also a handy dog wash in the park for post-beach washes.
