While Sydney is a large city, there’s not that many options for staying in your caravan or campervan with a pet close to the city. There’s only a limited number of caravan parks, and some don’t welcome pets, including the only caravan park on the Northern Beaches. If you’re looking for a pet-friendly caravan park in Sydney, take your pick from these options…

#1 Sheralee Tourist Caravan Park, Rockdale
Distance from city: 20 minutes south
The closest caravan park to the centre of Sydney, the Sheralee Tourist Caravan Park is located in Rockdale, not far from the airport. Both powered and unpowered sites are available, although the latter cannot be booked in advance. Past visitors also note that there are no large sites available.
Prices are reasonable, increasing modestly over the peak summer holiday period. Pets are allowed in the park with conditions (call up to find out the full pet rules), although not on tent sites. No cabins are available.
#2 Sydney Tourist Park, Miranda
Distance from city: 35 minutes south
Sydney Tourist Park is located in Miranda, part of the Sutherland region on the southern edge of Sydney. It’s just a short drive from the beaches of Cronulla, including the off-leash Cronulla dog beach. Pets are welcome to stay subject to conditions – call up to find out the full rules.
There’s a wide variety of sites available for reasonable prices, including drive-thru sites, although it’s best to book well in advance as the number of sites for short term visitors are limited. Past visitors note that the park could do with a renovation.
#3 Poplar Tourist Park, near Camden
Distance from city: 50 minutes southwest
Poplar Tourist Park is located in Elderslie, just outside of the historic town of Camden in southwestern Sydney. Located close to the Nepean River (skip booking a stay if the river is flooding), it’s walking distance from the shops and restaurants of Camden.
While not a fancy park, pets are allowed at the park on both sites (including if you’re camping in a tent) and in selected one bedroom cabins. A maximum of two pets are allowed per site and an indemnity form needs to be completed on arrival.
#4 Ingenia Holidays Nepean River, Emu Plains
Distance from city: 45 minutes west
Ingenia Holidays Nepean River is located on the banks of the Nepean River in Emu Plains, on the western edge of Sydney and at the base of the Blue Mountains. It’s also conveniently close to the Penrith Bridge to Bridge Walk, a dog-friendly walk in Sydney.
Selected one-bedroom and two-bedroom cabins at the park are pet-friendly. Each cabin has a bathroom, kitchen and their own small private deck. Pets are also allowed on the small number of powered sites at the park (which has a large number of permanent residences).
The park has plenty of amenities for guests, including a swimming pool, playground, jumping pad and camp kitchen, although past guests also note that the site rates are on the high side.
#5 Wallacia Caravan Park, Wallacia
Distance from city: 50 minutes west
Wallacia was formerly a rural hamlet in western Sydney, about a 20 minute drive south of Penrith. These days it’s close to the soon-to-open Western Sydney International Airport, but it’s still home to a small caravan park, the Wallacia Caravan Park.
A handful of sites are available for tourists, but only for caravans or RVs – no tents are permitted. There is also no camp kitchen. Pets are permitted at the discretion of the on-site manager.
#6 Ingenia Holidays Sydney Hills
Distance from city: 35 minutes northwest
Ingenia Holidays Sydney Hills is located in semi-rural Dural, in the Hills District of northern Sydney. It’s about a 35 minute drive via motorways from the city centre or about a 20 minute drive from the end of the M1 motorway in Hornsby.
The park has a wide range of facilities, including a swimming pool, tennis court, BBQ facilities and camp kitchen. Pets are allowed in selected cabins and cottages, plus on all sites. Take your pick from powered sites, ensuite sites and tent sites. Note though that pets are not allowed at the park between 15th December and 1st February – call up to double check the dates.
#7 Ingenia Holidays Avina, Vineyard
Distance from city: 50 minutes northwest
The Ingenia Holidays Avina holiday park is located further out of the city in Vineyard, close to Windsor and the Hawkesbury River. This large park has a swimming pool with spa and welcomes pets during most the year, outside of school holidays. (Call to check the dates.)
Pets are allowed on the powered sites, including premium and ensuite sites, plus in selected cabins. Take your pick from two-bedroom, one-bedroom and studio cabins, each with an ensuite bathroom and their own kitchen or kitchenette.
More Pet-Friendly Caravan Parks
There are also some more pet-friendly caravan parks located on the fringes of Sydney along the Hawkesbury River, including the area around Wisemans Ferry. Check out these options if you’re happy to stay a long distance away from the city and amenities.
