12 Year-Round Dog-Friendly Caravan Parks on the NSW South Coast

The NSW South Coast is home to countless caravan parks, many of them located right next to the beach or the many lakes that dot the coast. However, while many of the caravan parks are technically dog-friendly, they often have blackout periods, with no pets allowed over peak periods such as Christmas and Easter.

To help you out, especially all the families that have no option but to holiday during school holidays, I’ve dug up the best dog-friendly caravan parks (and some campgrounds) along the South Coast that allow pets year-round, with no blackout dates! Many also have pet-friendly cabins. Check out these excellent destinations for a dog-friendly camping holiday next school holidays…

Jetty at Jervis Bay Holiday Park

#1 Jervis Bay Holiday Park

At Jervis Bay, one of the few holiday parks with no seasonal restrictions is the Jervis Bay Holiday Park. This park is located just outside of Huskisson, on the banks of the Currambene Creek, with its own private boat ramp. It’s even walking distance to the two nearby dog-friendly breweries.

Well-behaved pets are allowed on both powered and unpowered sites, plus in selected pet-friendly villas – it’s a must to call directly to book these. Note that during the high season, pets are not allowed on the premium powered sites and the extra pet fees for the pet-friendly villas is higher.

#2 Surfside Cudmirrah Beach

Cudmirrah is a small locale just south of Sussex Inlet, on the southern edge of Swan Lake. It’s also home to the recently renovated Surfside Cudmirrah Beach, located right next to the on-leash Cudmirrah Beach.

Pets are allowed year-round in the stylishly-decorated Surfside Cabins and caravans at Surfside Cudmirrah Beach, as well as on the camping sites. It’s a must to let them know you’re bringing a dog in advance, with acceptance up to management discretion. Up to two dogs are allowed per site or cabin.

#3 BIG4 Ulladulla Beachside

The popular harbour town of Ulladulla is home to a large number of caravan parks, but many of them have seasonal restrictions. One of the only parks that welcomes pets year round is BIG4 Ulladulla Beachside, recently under new management.

This caravan park is located on the southern side of town, next to the on-leash Racecourse Beach. Select cabins at the park are pet-friendly, with both one-bedroom and two-bedroom options available. It’s a must to book directly for these. Pets are also welcome on the ensuite and powered sites.

#4 Tasman Holiday Parks – Kioloa Beach

Head a little further south of Ulladulla to Kioloa Beach, where pets are welcome year round at the Tasman Holiday Parks – Kioloa Beach. The park has direct access to the on-leash Kioloa Beach.

Both powered and unpowered (“off-grid”) campsites are available, that are pet-friendly year round. There is also an extensive range of cabins and retreats that are pet-friendly, some with gated verandahs. Check the website for the latest options. It’s best to call up and double check the full pet policy.

#5 Ingenia Holidays Merry Beach

On the other side of Kioloa is located Ingenia Holidays Merry Beach, in another beachfront location, but this time next to the on-leash Merry Beach. (For an off-leash dog beach nearby, head to Cormorant Beach in Bawley Point.)

Pets are welcome year round at this park. (Ignore the general disclaimer that blackout dates may apply at Ingenia Holidays parks.) Pets are allowed in selected cabins and villas in the park, as well as on all sites. The beachfront sites are particularly popular. Just be wary of the local kangaroos, and always keep your dog leashed.

#6 NRMA Batemans Bay Holiday Resort

One of the best pet-friendly caravan parks to stay at in Batemans Bay is the NRMA Batemans Bay Holiday Resort. As well as being conveniently located next to the off-leash Corrigans Beach inside the bay, pets are allowed both on sites (up to two pets per site) and in selected two-bedroom cabins.

When staying with a pet, direct bookings are required, plus a pet deposit for cabin stays. While pets are allowed year round, the park does note that pet sites are limited during the school holiday periods, so it’s a must to book directly by calling the park.

#7 Aspen Holidays Barlings Beach

A 20 minute drive south of Batemans Bay lies the village of Tomakin, home to a popular off-leash dog beach at the mouth of the Tomaga River. The suburb is also home to the pet-friendly Aspen Holidays Barlings Beach, that allows pets year round.

Pets are allowed both on camping and caravan sites, as well as in the Beach Comber Cabins and Tomakin House, for an additional cleaning fee per stay. There’s plenty of facilities for all pets – including an off-leash dog run onsite and a pet washing machine. The adjacent beach allows off-leash dogs during the morning and evening.

#8 NRMA Broulee Holiday Park

Just a little further south lies Broulee and the NRMA Broulee Holiday Park. Pets are now allow year round at this beachfront caravan park, which also has its own off-leash dog park and a handy dog wash.

As well as being permitted on selected sites, pets are also allowed to stay with you inside selected Standard Cabins, Gumnut Access-Friendly Cabins and Dune Villas. Direct bookings are required. Note that pets are not allowed on the closest stretch of beach – either head south of McNee Street or to the northern side of Broulee.

#9 Dalmeny Campground

While not a proper caravan park, a popular spot to camp with pets close to Narooma is the Dalmeny Campground. This affordable campground 10 minutes to the north has both powered and unpowered sites, along with proper toilets and hot showers, but no cabins.

Only dogs on a leash are permitted at the campground, with up to two per site allowed. And best of all there are no blackout dates. Just get in quick for busy periods!

#10 Mystery Bay Campground

Head 10 minutes south of Narooma for another affordable pet-friendly campground, Mystery Bay Campground. This campground is more basic than the one at Dalmeny, with only unpowered sites, pit toilets and cold showers. But it doesn’t stop it being popular during summer weekends!

Previously it wasn’t possible to make advance bookings, but you can now book and pay for an unallocated campsite in advance online. Best of all, the campground is next to the beautiful Mystery Bay Beach. A timeshare beach, while dogs are only allowed off-leash during the morning and evening over summer, when we visited in winter they were allowed off-leash all day long.
